Buckley St Eco Home
This project was undertaken in the picturesque coastal town of Balnarring, Victoria. It involved the radical transformation of a 80's built, cement-sheet clad residence of 65.18m2 in size, to a 323.22m2 architecturally designed home. The design brief sought to produce a high quality residence that was reflective of current innovations in sustainability, and to achieve the delicate balance of being visually striking whilst maintaing the natural character of the area.
Weathertex 'Weathergroove Woodsman' was selected as the main type of cladding for the project due to its natural look, ease of installation, availability of sheet lengths up to 3.6m, and exceptional finish when painted. In this instance the 'Weathergroove Woodsman' has been combined with rendered parapets, WR cedar windows, 200mm cypress feature posts and a Colourbond sheet wall, creating contrast and uniqueness. Innovative Weathertex features used in this project include a splade wall that extends 400mm above the parapet capping supporting a couter-leavered entry, ground to ceiling cladding up to 4m in height and intelligent use of sheet joins to match in with window heights, etc.
